Weather Situation
A relatively stationary low pressure trough will continue to sit over the far north east over the coming days. A high pressure system south Tasmania extends a weak ridge over the south of SA. A low pressure trough in the far west will remain near stationary until it is drawn eastwards by a cold front to the south on Wednesday and into Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of Tuesday
Possible showers or thunderstorms in the far west and far northeast mainly during the afternoon, otherwise dry. Maximum and minimum temperatures well above average throughout. Easterly winds tending to fresh northeasterlies in the west during the afternoon and evening.
Wednesday 12 February
Possible showers or thunderstorms in the west. Minimum and maximum temperatures well above average for most of the state ahead of a cooler change in the far west. Northeasterly winds turning to northwesterly and freshening ahead of the cooler fresh and gusty southwesterly change in the west, reaching central parts at night.
Thursday 13 February
Showers possible for most of the state apart from the southwest and northeast. Chance of thunderstorms in the far northwest. Maximum temperatures below average for most of the state, apart from the northeast and far southeast. Northerly winds in the east ahead of a fresh west to southwesterly change extending throughout during the morning, strong at times about coastal parts. Winds shifting southwest to southerly in the west later.
Friday 14 February
Possible showers or thunderstorms about the far north of the state. Possible showers about coastal districts. Below average maximum temperatures. Fresh southwest to southerly winds, strong at times about coastal parts. Cumulative rainfall totals to the end of Friday: Generally less than 2 mm for most of the state with isolated falls of up to 5mm about windward coasts and ranges. Local isolated falls of 5 to 10mm possible with thunderstorms.
Saturday until Monday
Possible showers about coastal parts, clearing on Sunday. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms developing in the far west on Monday. Generally below average maximum temperatures. Southwest to southeasterly winds, fresh at times about the south, shifting southeast to northeasterly on Monday.
